New Rescue Boat Coming to Lake Anna—Lake Anna Rescue, Inc. Surpasses $50,000 Fundraising Goal through “Lifesavers Challenge”

August 20, 2024

Bumpass, VA – August 20, 2024 – Lake Anna Rescue, Inc. (LARI) proudly announces that it has reached its first milestone goal of $50,000 for the Lifesavers Challenge in just ten weeks. The funds will be used for a down payment on a new rescue boat, significantly enhancing the non-profit, volunteer organization’s ability to perform life-saving operations on Lake Anna.

This achievement was made possible through the dedicated efforts of over 60 volunteers, community members, and local businesses that came together to support this critical initiative. The new rescue boat is expected to arrive by the summer of 2025, perfectly timed for the July 4 celebrations, and will be instrumental in ensuring the safety of all who enjoy Lake Anna’s waters.

“We are deeply humbled by the overwhelming support from our community,” said Troy Dillard, President of LARI. “This rescue boat will be a game-changer for us, enabling our team to respond more effectively to emergencies on the lake. I want to personally thank our membership for recognizing the urgency of this need and approving the funds to enter the contract to purchase the boat, as well as the incredible volunteers whose fundraising efforts have brought us to this point.”

The Lifesavers Challenge, which began on May 22, 2024, marked LARI’s 1st Annual fundraiser. This grassroots event united teams of enthusiastic, competitive, and motivated individuals to raise funds and awareness for LARI’s essential mission.

“It’s truly rewarding to witness what a small group of dedicated individuals can accomplish by working together,” stated Casey Hollins, co-chair for the Lifesavers Challenge. “We’re now pushing towards our stretch goal of $100,000 by September 14, the date of our finale celebration for the entire community!”

LARI encourages everyone to get involved with the Lifesavers Challenge by making a donation, registering to raise $100 to earn the official Lifesavers Challenge T-shirt, or gathering friends and family to start a fundraising team.

The community is also invited to join the fun at The Lifesavers Challenge Finale, a free, family-friendly celebration event on Saturday, September 14, 2024, from 10 AM to 4 PM at the Bumpass Water Ski Club (3654 Buckner Road, Bumpass, VA). The event will feature a First Responders Parade, live entertainment, kids’ activities, EMS demonstrations, and delicious food. Donations for various activities, food, and beverages will go towards supporting LARI’s ongoing fundraising efforts. Every contribution, big or small, makes a significant impact on the mission to keep Louisa County and Lake Anna safe.

LARI invites the entire community to attend the event and continue supporting their lifesaving mission. Contributions will help ensure that LARI can purchase additional critical life-saving equipment, further enhancing their ability to serve the community.
