LOUISA, VA – The Louisa Arts Center has announced the upcoming gallery exhibit, Expressions in Pastels, hosted by the MidAtlantic Pastel Society (MAPS). The exhibit will be the annual judged show for MAPS, featuring works from regional artists.

MAPS is a non-profit organization that promotes the understanding and appreciation of pastels as a fine art medium. The society includes both beginner and professional artists, with over 100 members. MAPS is affiliated with the International Association of Pastel Societies, which connects pastel societies from the USA, Canada, the UK, Australia, and China.
This year’s show will be judged by Colette Odya Smith, a painter, educator, and juror with nearly 30 years of experience working in soft pastels. Her work has been featured in publications such as American Artist, The Artist’s Magazine, Pastel Journal, and Pratique des Arts.
The opening reception for Expressions in Pastels will take place on Friday, September 27, from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Purcell Gallery. The exhibit will run through Friday, November 22. The gallery is open to the public free of charge during box office hours, Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, and one hour before each performance in the Cooke-Haley Theater.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
