Louisa County, VA – On August 9, 2025, at approximately 10:45 PM, the Louisa County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) received a report of a possible drowning in the area of Sandy Point Drive in Bumpass, Virginia. Witnesses on the scene reported that Sally Bedell, a 19-year-old female from Arlington, Virginia, had jumped from a structure into the water and, after resurfacing, went missing.
Louisa County Sheriff’s Office deputies, along with Fire & EMS units, responded to the location. The Spotsylvania County Dive Team was requested and responded to assist in search efforts. Shortly afterwards, Ms. Bedell was found unresponsive in the water. Despite immediate life-saving measures, she was pronounced deceased on the scene. LCSO investigators responded and initiated a death investigation. The incident remains under investigation at this time.
The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office extends its deepest condolences to the family and friends of Ms. Sally Bedell during this difficult time.
