The 1st Annual Karaoke Contest at The Lounge on Lake Anna, hosted by DJ Austin Nester of Raise the Roof Entertainment, is quickly gaining momentum and drawing singers from beyond the Lake Anna area.
Now half way into the competition, the event has already welcomed winners from Richmond and the Washington, D.C., metro region, highlighting the growing reach and popularity of karaoke and amateur singing competitions.
One of the recent standouts is Andrew Lowenstein, who traveled from Richmond to compete in his first-ever karaoke competition. Lowenstein earned his winning spot with a performance of “Rain” by the Teskey Brothers. A frequent karaoke participant in Richmond, he said singing has played an important role in his life in recent years. “It’s fun, I like the satisfaction,” Lowenstein said. “Singing got me out of a dark place after COVID.”
Another notable winner is Jorge Serafin, who came from Alexandria to compete. Serafin is no stranger to the stage, having performed across the country in cities including Las Vegas, Manchester, Nashville, Florida, and Ohio. He is also a past winner of Pinay Kitchen Idol in Woodbridge and brings a diverse musical background that includes violin performance and bluegrass and country influences.
The karaoke competition runs for a total of 10 weeks, with two finalists selected each week. All finalists will return to The Lounge for the Grand Finale in February, where they will compete head-to-head for a $500 cash prize and a trophy.
The Lounge, along with The Cove at Lake Anna and a few other regional establishments, offer karaoke year-round.
The contest is held every Thursday night at The Lounge on Lake Anna and is free to enter. Community members are encouraged to attend, support the singers, and enjoy an evening of live entertainment through these winter months.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
