DOSWELL, VA – Kings Dominion has revealed plans for its 2024 Winterfest celebration, an annual event featuring a dazzling display of over six million lights, ice skating, festive treats, and the return of beloved holiday characters.
Starting Friday, November 29, Kings Dominion will be transformed into a radiant holiday wonderland, inviting visitors to experience one of Virginia’s most magical seasonal events.
Event Highlights:
Live Shows and Entertainment – Favorite holiday characters will stroll throughout the park, greeting guests and spreading cheer. Returning to the Jungle X-Pedition area, Sounds of the Nativity will feature live animals, while Tinker’s Toy Factory hosts multiple daily shows at the Kings Dominion Theater. At the base of the Eiffel Tower, Cool Yule Christmas presents nightly performances on the Grand Bandstand. Each evening begins with the festive ‘Tis the Season Tree Lighting Ceremony, and shows continue every 15 minutes across the park.
Seasonal Treats – Winterfest brings back an array of beloved holiday treats, including cinnamon pull-apart bread (both fried and regular), candy cane funnel cakes, holiday-themed crepes, frosted holiday pretzels and churros, and Christmas cake and cookie ice cream sandwiches.
For heartier appetites, a savory holiday menu offers smoked turkey, Virginia ham, sweet potato casserole, mashed potatoes with turkey gravy, a hot brown sandwich, and a chicken alfredo pizza.
Seasonal Beverages – Guests can warm up with seasonal hot and cold drinks, including holly jolly hot cocoa, fireplace cider, icy winter breeze, and gingerbread hot chocolate. Classic hot chocolate is also available throughout the park.
Holiday Lights & Trees – With more than six million lights and over 450 decorated trees, Kings Dominion will be aglow, featuring the iconic Eiffel Tower transformed into a towering, illuminated tree standing at 315 feet.
Ice Skating – Skaters can glide over Snowflake Lake, an expansive outdoor rink located by the iconic fountains beneath the Eiffel Tower.
Cookie Decorating – Mrs. Claus opens her kitchen for festive cookie decorating, perfect for families and kids of all ages.
Letter Writing to Santa – Guests can write a letter to Santa at the designated post office, where each letter receives an official stamp showing it’s been delivered to the North Pole.
Photos with Santa – Pose with Santa for a memorable holiday keepsake.
Private Igloos – For a cozy experience, visitors can book private heated igloos, complete with an exclusive menu and prime views of the lights around the Eiffel Tower.
Rides – Up to 25 rides will be in operation, weather permitting, including favorites like Twisted Timbers and the classic carousel.
New Year’s Eve Celebration – Ring in the new year with Kings Dominion’s special celebration! The park opens at 5 p.m. on December 31 and stays open until 1 a.m. on January 1, featuring live performances at the Grand Bandstand beneath the Eiffel Tower, a midnight countdown, and an impressive fireworks show.
