Lake Anna’s 2024 Readers’ Choice Diamond Award recipient, Mike Kavros, who earned the highest number of gold wins in the Best of Lake Anna competition, has now achieved another milestone—winning the Jim Wordsworth Award for Restaurateur of the Year. This prestigious accolade, presented by the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging, and Travel Association (VRLTA), recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions to Virginia’s hospitality industry.

Nominated by Tracey Hale Clarke of the Louisa Chamber of Commerce, Kavros was celebrated not only for his business success but for his deep commitment to the local community and his role as a visionary leader in the restaurant industry.
When Mike and his wife Roxanne founded Callie Opie’s Orchard, their dream was to create something more than just a restaurant. They wanted a space where the community could gather, celebrate, and enjoy local flavors in a welcoming environment. Named in honor of Mike’s late aunt, Callie Opie’s Orchard has since grown into a beloved venue for weddings, corporate events, and local celebrations, offering much more than a traditional dining experience. Mike has successfully cultivated a unique dining experience that has become a cornerstone of the Lake Anna region.
“I am extremely honored and grateful,” Kavros shared, “I’d like to thank Louisa County Chamber of Commerce for the nomination and our entire staff for their hard work and dedication to help achieve this award. This summer our team was fortunate to have won 34 Readers’ Choice awards as well.”
The Jim Wordsworth Award, named after a restaurateur who left a lasting legacy on Virginia’s dining scene, celebrates leaders who have gone above and beyond in their service to the industry. For Mike Kavros, winning this award is a reflection of his tireless efforts to elevate the dining experience in Lake Anna while also supporting the local economy and fostering a sense of community.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
