As a little girl, Kourtney Kidd dreamed of playing college softball. On August 5th, that dream came true when she committed to the University of Lynchburg, home to a Division III softball program with a strong record of all-state and all-district players.
“I like that it’s a small school,” Kidd said. “When I visited, I saw how well the team got along.”
Kidd has played all four years under head coach Susan Sharpe and was named a team captain as a junior—an honor not often given so early.
“I love Kourtney,” Sharpe said. “She’s dependable, hardworking—everything a coach wants. She always gets the job done.”
Kidd and fellow senior Alyssa Hopkins, who’s committed to George Mason University, have played together since middle school.
“We were the only two freshmen on varsity,” Hopkins said. “It’s been cool to grow through the highs and lows together.”
Kidd says the team bond is what keeps her passionate. “I love softball because of my teammates—we all vibe together.”
Coach Sharpe continues to mentor Kidd for college life. “Stay organized, keep a calendar, and keep working hard,” she advised.
Kidd is ready for the challenge. “I just need to stay on task, keep practicing, and focus on my education.”
Her leadership will leave a mark. “Kourtney steps up when it’s quiet,” Hopkins said. “She’s a reliable and positive voice for the team.”

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
