Recognizing Amazing People Who Make Lake Anna Better For All Of Us
Lake Anna is not a city…or a town…or a county. Lake Anna straddles Louisa, Spotsylvania and Orange counties. So..what is Lake Anna? Lake Anna is a community.
If you have spent much time at Lake Anna, you probably know that it’s a very special place. The gorgeous views, water activities, live music and great restaurants make for a wonderful experience. More importantly, we are blessed to have a handful of community leaders that are deeply invested in the lake area.
Each year, we recognize people who have made a real difference in serving Lake Anna and making it better. These people might provide services through a business of their own or just through volunteer activities. Either way they make a huge difference to our community.
The Lake Anna Breeze™ is proud to present 2023 Breezy Awards to these members of our community who have shared their time and talents to make Lake Anna a better place to visit or live. Let’s learn a little more about who these very special people are.
The Energizer Bunny – Jody Korman
It’s almost impossible to slow Jody Korman down. Perhaps that’s why she has been compared to the famed Energizer BunnyTM on the battery commercial. When she isn’t water skiing, she’s running the Lake Anna Business Partnership. Over the past year, Jody has made a huge impact on the Louisa side of Lake Anna by creating Louisa Clean, an all-volunteer group of local residents to clean up trash from the the sides of local roads.
The Fiber Cats – Sam Smith and Family
Reliable high-speed internet has been missing from most areas at Lake Anna. At least it was until iWisp hit the scene and started laying fiber in numerous Lake Anna neighborhoods. The family-owned company has provided fixed wireless Internet service for many years, but that service was location dependent and not available for many residents. Although Louisa County has partnered with Rappahannock Electric Cooperative and a fiber company called Firefly, the service won’t be completely available in the county for a few more years. Thanks to the Smiths, more than 1,300 people already have fiber-based Internet.
The Hosts – Mike and Roxanne Kavros
Mike and Roxanne Kavros own Callie Opie’s Orchard, one of Lake Anna’s most popular restaurants. Between the restaurant and their wildly popular event barn, the couple has found numerous ways to give back to the community by hosting charity fundraisers and donating funds.
The Life Savers – Patrick and Jane Gallagher
Jane and Patrick founded a non-profit organization called the Foundation For Lake Anna Emergerncy Services which has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars used to build the New Bridge Fire and Rescue station. In addition the foundation raised funds for a new ambulance and is currently raising money for a rescue boat. The couple came up with the idea to raise funds for emergency services after Jane witnessed a medical emergency and it took nineteen minutes for an ambulance to arrive. The Gallaghers have worked tirelssly over the past few years and it’s highly likely that their efforts will save many lives for years to come.
Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
