After five years under current ownership, the Lake Anna Breeze™ newspaper will soon be acquired. Local marketing professional, Jennifer Bailey, who also owns the digital marketing agency, Reclaim Your Marketing, will acquire the publication effective January 1, 2024. Bailey will add the publication to her portfolio of marketing tools along with her current digital marketing (web site construction, search engine optimization, etc) and the recently announced LakeAnna.Online, a digital portal to all things Lake Anna
Bailey has extensive experience in a wide variety of mediums including print and digital. She is an award-winning writer and was a regular columnist for the The Bakersfield Californian, a publication with a daily circulation of at least a quarter million readers. She has written newsletters for non-profits and created numerous websites for business owners. Bailey has also taught marketing classes for the Chamber of Commerce, the Small Business Development Center among others. At Lake Anna, Bailey runs a marketing agency called, Reclaim Your Marketing, and works with numerous local businesses to help them grow and prosper. Bailey is married to local resident David Bailey (although you may know him as the Pirate of Lake Anna) and the couple have five children.
According to outgoing publisher, Jim McCoy, “We looked long and hard to find the right individual to take over publication of the Lake Anna Breeze™. Over the last year, we paid particular attention to Jennifer and the work that she was doing in the Lake Anna area. We came to the realization that she would be the perfect professional to own and operate the Lake Anna Breeze™ newspaper.” McCoy added, “We are thrilled beyond belief that she will be taking the reins at The Breeze™ and continuing the mission of helping people relax and enjoy our wonderful community.”
During McCoy’s tenure with the paper, a number of enhancements and additions were made to the paper including the Real Estate section, and a number of regular feature columns including Beau’s Perspective ostensibly written by McCoy’s labrador retriever, Retire LKA, a column targeted toward retirees and pre-retirees, It’s Electric, a column covering today’s technology and a 60’s and 70’s nostalgia column written by national entertainer, Tim Beasley. In addition, a wordsearch with advertisers’ names in the puzzle was also added.
McCoy will be staying on with the newspaper for the foreseeable future to help with the transition and contribute articles to the publication. Bailey notes, “We are so happy that Jim and Mary Jo will be continuing to work with the paper as we go through the ownership transition.”
The Breeze™ has been in publication since 2011 making it one of the longest-running Lake Anna focused publications. The paper was originally created by local builder and developer, Ed Blount, who published the paper until early 2019 when acquired by McCoy. The paper is published ten times per year and is distributed at over fifty retail locations accross Central Virginia and in the Lake Anna area including Walmart, Walgreens, Sheetz and Food Lion.
McCoy notes, “The Breeze™ is for people who love Lake Anna. We want our readers to sit back, grab a relaxing drink or cup of coffee and let the Lake Anna Breeze™ carry them away.
Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
