Navigating social gatherings at Lake Anna without indulging in alcohol is hard… and for obvious reasons. We’re always boasting about how many events and social opportunities there are to participate in on a regular basis… face it, Lake Anna isn’t without fun. But it also isn’t without a plethora of opportunities to partake in a beverage… or two… so staying “dry” can be a challenge on and off the water.

Adult beverages, like food, can be a true art form – and Lake Anna has no shortage of amazing tasting rooms.

It’s no secret that over consumption of alcohol (on the regular) can have seriously damaging affects on our livers… but I think a lot of people don’t realize how many other organs and areas of our lives that it impacts. The more regularly you drink, the more dopamine levels will start to naturally decrease… leading to further consumption. It’s quite the cycle.

However, choosing to abstain from or moderate alcohol consumption comes with its own set of benefits, both physically and mentally. From improved sleep patterns to maintaining optimal dopamine levels, the decision to steer clear of heavy drinking can lead to a healthier lifestyle overall.

On a personal level, I know this because my husband and I have been on a journey to Alcohol Free (him having none and me having one here or there). And we’ve been hunting for some of the best AF options around… we were particularly impressed with Brian at the Taphouse who created what we call “Cotton Candy” drink, and Britton Friz from Callie Opies who gave us the BEST virgin Mojito (see page 9 of The Breeze).

Join us in giving #LakeAnnaAF a place in our community! Ask for mocktail options wherever you go, or try Coyote Hole’s new line of NA beverages. There’s no need to feel awkward about it… just do what’s best for you.
