When Todd Holmes got into the insulation business over 35 years ago, he didn’t plan on becoming a business owner. But when opportunity knocked, he and his wife Odette answered—stepping in to keep another company’s team employed. That first leap into entrepreneurship lasted 13 years. Then in 2010, Todd brought his talents to Coastal Insulation & Fireplaces LLC, opening a new Fredericksburg division and quickly turning it into a regional leader.
“I knew from the start this was going to take a lot of hours,” Todd says. “But hard work never scared me—what mattered most was doing the job right.”
What started in a storage unit has grown into a multi-location company with over 50 employees. Holmes credits the company’s growth to his team, a commitment to top-notch service, and being available when customers need him—even if it means answering texts before sunrise.
“I’m available 24/7 because if I don’t answer the phone, someone else might,” Holmes says. “That’s how serious I take it.”
But it hasn’t always been easy. Growing too quickly in the early days came with high stress, vehicle breakdowns, and supply issues. Holmes even loaned the business money and went months without a paycheck just to keep the wheels turning. Through it all, his wife’s optimism and his own drive kept him going.
Today, Holmes services a wide area—from Maryland to Charlottesville—and calls Lake Anna home. After moving here full-time, he’s become even more connected to the community, helping homeowners navigate inspections and working closely with local builders.
“I’ve learned to lead with honesty, stay flexible, and never forget the people who count on me,” he says. “At the end of the day, this business is about relationships and showing up.”
From building trust to insulating homes, Todd Holmes continues to be a steady hand in an ever-changing industry—proving that when it comes to great service, there really is no place like Holmes.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
