Each year, the Lake Anna Business Partnership (LABP) hosts a banquet to honor members of the community who exemplify leadership, innovation, and service. This year’s event, held at Callie Opie’s Orchard on February 18th, celebrated outstanding individuals and businesses that have made a lasting impact on the Lake Anna area.
The highlight of the evening was the presentation of the prestigious Legacy Award—an honor given to someone whose influence will leave a lasting footprint in the region.
This year that honor has gone to iWiSP founder, Sam Smith. For over 15 years, Sam Smith and the iWisp family have been at the forefront of bringing high-speed internet to Lake Anna and surrounding communities. Their efforts were crucial during the COVID-19 shutdown, ensuring residents and businesses stayed connected when it mattered most. Beyond their professional contributions, the Smith family has also been strong advocates for Parkinson’s disease awareness and fundraising, further demonstrating their dedication to community impact.

This award is chosen from business owners who were nominated by their peers for their dedication to their businesses and the community.
Finalists included Manie Sosa Hernandez, owner of El Gran Patron at Pleastant’s Landing, and Terri Woods of Northern Virginia Title & Escrow. Scott Randlett, owner of Valet Trash and Hauling was voted as the winner.
New Business & Community Service
The Richard Binns Award for community service went to The Louisa Resource Council for their outstanding service to the community. Finally, the Best New Member Business award went to Ben Wetley of Lake Anna Marina.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
