This summer, visitors to Lake Anna have a new reason to smile: LKA Frosty Treats, a brand-new ice cream boat offering frozen delights on the water. Owned and operated by longtime lake enthusiasts, husband and wife team CJ and Lora Dawson, the floating ice cream shop is quickly becoming a favorite among locals and tourists alike.
The LKA Frosty Treats boat can be seen cruising the lake on weekends and at special events. The boat alternates its route, spending one day up the lake and the next down, ensuring everyone gets a chance to enjoy their icy offerings.
“It’s a lot of work, but it’s been fun. Everybody is loving it,” said Lora Dawson. “We won’t stop at marinas or the state park because they already sell ice cream. We’re not trying to intrude on businesses that sell ice cream. We will stop at your dock, in the middle of the lake, or come into a cove if you’re anchored and swimming. We’ll stop anywhere that doesn’t serve ice cream.”
The boat has become a hit, especially with its Spongebob and Bomb Pop treats, which are crowd favorites. Interestingly, it’s not just children who are excited; adults are also eagerly waving the boat down. “I have really enjoyed seeing everyone, young and old, even if they don’t buy ice cream, they wave and scream and yell,” Dawson added. “The whole entire lake community has been very, very supportive. If someone sends me a picture, I try to post it on our Facebook page.”
The Dawsons have ensured their customers can easily find them by providing real-time updates on their location via their Facebook page. This innovation has made it convenient for everyone to enjoy a cool treat without missing out on their lake activities.
Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
