The Cutalong Golf Clubhouse’s groundbreaking ceremony in July marked the beginning of a new chapter for a meticulously planned resort-style residential community at Lake Anna in Louisa County, Virginia. The event, attended by local officials, community leaders, and key stakeholders, featured a keynote address by Virginia’s First Lady, Suzanne Youngkin, who highlighted the project’s significance and its potential to positively impact the region.

The development is expected to make a substantial economic contribution to Louisa County, with an anticipated annual impact of $6.5 million. This includes $5 million in property taxes and over $1.5 million in transient occupancy taxes. The project is also set to create over 200 permanent jobs and 150 construction and skilled trade positions during its development phase.

Spanning 1,000 acres along Lake Anna’s shores, this project is set to become one of Virginia’s premier destinations. The community’s development plan includes 891 residential options, ranging from estate homes and executive homesites to cottages, villas, townhomes, and luxury condominiums.

At the heart of the community lies the Cutalong Golf Club, featuring an 18-hole championship golf course designed by acclaimed architect Tom Clark. The course has already earned recognition as one of Golf Digest’s Top 5 Best New Private Courses in America. The clubhouse’s groundbreaking represents a significant milestone in realizing this much-anticipated lakeside resort community.

“Today’s groundbreaking marks an exciting milestone for Cutalong and the community,” said Joe Walsh, Project Director. “We are incredibly grateful for the overwhelming support we’ve received from the local community and our partners. It’s an exciting time as we bring a premier family lakeside resort and private golf community to Lake Anna, enhancing the charm and appeal of this beautiful area. We are committed to delivering an exceptional experience that will not only enrich the lives of our members, their guests, and visitors, but also contribute positively to the greater Virginia region.”

The ceremony also included speeches from prominent county officials, including Duane Adams, Chairman of the Louisa County Board of Supervisors, Christopher McCotter, a Member of the Board of Supervisors, and Chris Coon, Deputy County Administrator. Additionally, Jared Lucero, Partner and CEO of Reef Capital Partners, spoke at the event. Suzanne Youngkin, Virginia’s First Lady, participated in the ceremonial groundbreaking and praised the development’s potential.

“The economic development at Cutalong is poised to significantly benefit our region and the entire Commonwealth,” said Suzanne Youngkin. “Cutalong aims not only to provide homes but also to foster recreation and engagement with nature, promoting wellness and community connection. I’m excited to see how it flourishes.” For more details about Cutalong Golf Club and the future resort community, please visit CutalongLakeAnna.com.
