The Louisa County Fair is set to celebrate its 40th anniversary with a weekend packed full of family-friendly activities at Walton Park from July 25-27. This year’s fair features a wide array of events, from magic shows and livestock auctions to live concerts and local vendor stalls.
Pre-Fair Events
The festivities begin early with the Miss Louisa County Fair Pageant on Sunday, July 14th, held at the Louisa Arts Center. Open to contestants aged 2-22, applications for the pageant are due by July 6th.
The following weekend, join the Dinner Under the Stars fundraiser. On Sunday, July 21st, the Louisa County Horse Show kicks off at 8:30 AM in Walton Park. Featuring Hunter English, Western, and fun classes, the horse show welcomes competitors with pre-registration at $10 per class or $12 on the day of the event. Spectator entry is free, with food trucks and vendors, including the Rhinestone Cowgirl boutique’s custom hat bar.
Fair Schedule
The fair officially opens on Thursday, July 25th with sensory-friendly hours from 3:00-5:00 PM. This period is free of charge and designed for attendees with sensory needs, offering a modified, quieter experience. General admission starts at 5:00 PM, priced at $5 per person, with discounts for seniors and free entry for children under five.
Friday, July 26th and Saturday, July 27th offer full days of entertainment from 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities, including:
- Sheep herding demonstrations
- Cow milking
- Pony rides
- Magic shows
- Evening concerts and a mechanical bull
4-H/FFA Livestock Show and Auction events highlight the fair’s agricultural focus. The Buddy Show, open to children with disabilities, pairs participants with a 4-H mentor and a lamb or goat to show. Additional livestock shows and auctions are scheduled throughout the weekend.
