424 of you who love Lake Anna took a survey last year. It asked questions like… what are the benefits of living here, what are the greatest threats to our community, and if you have 20 volunteers to improve Lake Anna, what job would you assign?

Now, we are taking all the data and holding a roundtable discussion with all of you about what is being done, and what can be done about it.

It’s called Wave Maker, and our goal is to bring the community together around common goals, not to complain but to take positive and impactful actions.

We’ve partnered with two important change makers to make this happen. First, the Lake Anna Civic Association, who has been around since 1992 and actively works on solutions for Harmful Algae Bloom and Lake Safety Issues at Lake Anna, among other issues. Second, a nonprofit organization out of Fredericksburg that many locals aren’t yet familiar with called Capacity to Serve. Capacity to Serve has a program called Co-Creation Lab that has aided in this process.

Without the help of these two organizations, Wave Maker would not exist. Thirdly, we want the public to know that as a sponsor of this program, The Breeze does not profit in any way. What we gain – however – is knowledge about what our readers care about.

On Wednesday, May 21st at Fifty-Third Winery, you are invited to come discuss the issues that impact us with like minded community members, hear from speakers about ongoing efforts and see the results of the survey we completed. Space is limited. To RSVP, go to: https://lakeanna.online/wavemaker
