The 2025 Lake Anna Jet Boat Invasion kicked off with energy, excitement, and heartfelt appreciation for community service at its Friday night launch party held at Lake Anna Taphouse. This year’s Jet Boat Community Service Award was presented to Kelly and Joe Bladen, honoring their generous support and long-standing involvement in the event.

Past recipients include Lake Anna legends Jack Weller, Michael Tomlin, and Carlos Wood of High Point Marina. Organizers described the Bladens’ recognition as “well-earned,” noting their continued generosity and presence within the jet boat and lake community. “Thank you for your continued support, sincere appreciation, and graciousness,” organizers said.

The night also brought news of charitable giving from the group, including $500 donated to the Louisa Humane Society, $300 contributed to Roosters & Foxes in support of the annual Men of Lake Anna calendar, and a special donation from Dan Akins of $4,000 in gear bags for Lake Anna’s new rescue boat.

“This is a very tight-knit community. We welcome all and appreciate the hard work and passion everyone brings,” said Mark Strauss of Roosters & Foxes.

All donations are fueled by t-shirt sales, luncheons, and generous sponsorships, including support from Food Lion, Boogie B Wine, Lake Anna Golf Carts, 208 Apparel, Southern Explosion, Quantum Buzz, and The Lake Anna Breeze.

Thrills on the Water and in the Air

Saturday’s main event, held June 7, drew dozens of boats to the lake despite less-than-perfect weather.
“Everyone is safe, no major failures, no injuries, and we all had fun,” said Chet Wojcik, who co-organized the event with Jack Weller.

A special highlight of the weekend: professional jet ski stunt rider Zak McDonough, who wowed the crowd with 360° spins and backflips on a modified ski. “Last year I was still learning,” Zak said. “Now I can flip it. I even took a ski to the head once—that’s why I always wear a life jacket.”

“Doing good things for the community is what it’s all about,” Chet said. “We couldn’t do this without the team behind the scenes.”
