Just a few years away from celebrating his 30th anniversary as a home builder, Jeff Owen’s journey began with small remodeling projects in 1997.\

Growing up at High Rock Lake in North Carolina, Jeff developed a deep appreciation for life on the water. Summers spent waterskiing and working outdoors planted the seeds for his future career. After moving to Virginia, Jeff began working for his uncle in building supplies while studying mechanical drafting and architectural drawing in community college. These experiences helped him acquire the skills that would one day define his work. “Everything I learned then, I still use today,” Jeff reflects. “I even draw my own plans for smaller projects.”
It was during these early years that Jeff discovered Lake Anna. “It felt like home immediately,” he says. In 1993, he purchased his first property on the lake—a raw lot with 350 feet of shoreline—for $80,000.
“My mother thought I was crazy for spending that much,” Jeff recalls with a laugh. She doesn’t think I’m crazy anymore. That lot alone is valued at $400,000 today.”
It took Jeff eight months to design his dream home, and in 1999, he broke ground on what would become “Foxhall,” his personal residence. Completed in 2001, Foxhall became not only a home but also a model of his craftsmanship, hosting everything from Christmas parties to private tours.
Jeff founded JO Contractors in 1997, starting with small repair and remodeling jobs. As word spread about his meticulous attention to detail and ability to bring visions to life, demand for his services grew. Over the years, Jeff has worked on everything from decks and additions to full-scale custom homes. “I’ve done as many as 20 projects at once, but I like to focus on 4-5 quality jobs at a time,” he says.
His specialty lies in “total house transformations”—remodeling lake homes for families transitioning from weekend retreats to full-time residences. “These homes have good bones,” Jeff explains. “I love helping people reimagine them for their next chapter.”
Foxhall is the crown jewel of Jeff Owen’s career with JO Contractors.
Foxhall’s charm begins with its name, inspired by the red foxes that frequently play on the property’s meticulously maintained three-acre grounds. Inside and out, the estate is adorned with dozens of playful fox motifs, each a subtle nod to its namesake, woven into the decor.
This thoughtful attention to detail sets the tone for the entire property, a stunning testament to craftsmanship that only Jeff Owen provides.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
