The Belmont Community Center serves as a cornerstone of neighborhood life and is heavily used throughout the year. The facility hosts a weekly library on Mondays, arts and crafts groups, bingo nights, meetings for local associations, and functions as the regional polling location during elections.
With such frequent use, the Community Center supports a wide range of civic, cultural, and social activities that bring residents together across generations. Its role as a shared space makes it an essential resource for the broader Belmont and Lake Anna community.
Ongoing use also brings the need for continued upkeep and improvement. A recent example is the refurbishment of the Community Center’s parking lot. After learning of the need, a local neighbor, who asked to remain anonymous, donated ten truckloads of gravel and personally spread it throughout the lot. Combined with a new roof and a new kitchen, these improvements ensure the Belmont Community Center remains ready to support community gatherings well into the future.
In a season centered on gratitude, the Community Center stands as a reminder of what can be accomplished when neighbors invest in shared spaces that strengthen community connections.
Belmont Club of Women
The Belmont Club of Women (BCOW) is one of the organizations that regularly uses the Belmont Community Center as a meeting place and hub for service. Members gather throughout the year to support neighbors through hands-on projects and community events.
Among their seasonal efforts is the assembly of Christmas gift baskets for neighbors who may need extra support during the holidays. BCOW also hosts major annual events at the Community Center, including the Fall Arts and Crafts Fair and the Spring Plant and Yard Sale. These events draw community members together while supporting local engagement and outreach.
Through consistent volunteerism and event planning, BCOW plays an important role in fostering connection and care within the Belmont community.
Belmont Ruritan Club
The Belmont Ruritan Club (BRC) also relies on the Belmont Community Center as a regular meeting and event space. The club hosts meetings, its annual scholarship awards dinners, and special events such as the Mardi Gras Dinner at the facility.
In addition, the Belmont Ruritan Club has a long history of collaboration with other local organizations in support of community traditions. One such partnership includes co-hosting the longstanding Spring Ham and Oyster Dinner, an event that has become a familiar and anticipated gathering for area residents.
In December, the Belmont community joined thousands of volunteers nationwide to honor fallen service members through the annual observance organized by Wreaths Across America.
At the Culpeper VA Cemetery, volunteers worked to lay wreaths at veterans’ gravesites, ensuring each individual was remembered by name for their service and sacrifice. The cemetery is the final resting place for thousands of fallen veterans.
Local coordination for the effort was supported by the club, which helped organize volunteers and donations in partnership with Wreaths Across America. Community participation played an important role in the success of the December 13 observance.
This coming March, the Ruritans will sell mulch and compost to the community in a win-win situation. And on May 15th. they will host local golfers at a golf event with local businesses donating prizes and proceeds going to local high school seniors as scholarships.
On the third Friday of each month, over 100 neighbors gather to play bingo hosted by either the Ruritan Foundation or the BCOW. Together, these efforts reflect the strength of the Belmont community and shared commitment to service.
