LOUISA, VA:  July 23, 2024 — The Louisa Arts Center is pleased to announce that the next show in the Purcell Gallery will be entitled “JOURNEY” and will include original works of art from many local artists.

The show will be curated by Janice Breeden who received her bachelor’s degree from Mary Baldwin College and her master’s degree from VCU.  She taught art at Louisa County High School for over 17 years before her retirement from teaching.

Janice is now focused on developing her painting style.  As a painter, she loves playing with light and contrast to create a sense of mystery.  As a result, she turned to “interiors” early in her art career.  She began to see connections and conversations between objects without the presence of people.  Her art allows viewers to ask questions about the place, the time, and who might occupy that space.  She loves creating that mystery.

There will be an opening reception for JOURNEY on Friday, August 9th from 6:00-8:00 pm at the Purcell Gallery.  Won’t you join us?  The opening will be held in conjunction with Ginny Carr Goldberg performing at Music & Wine on the Terrace at the Louisa Arts Center.  JOURNEY will run from August 9th through Friday, September 20th.  Art submissions are accepted through August 3.  Details can be found on our website, www.louisaarts.org.

The Purcell Gallery is open free of charge to the public during box office hours, Tuesday through Friday from 11:00-2:00pm and one hour before each performance in the Cooke-Haley Theater.
