Did you know that there was a recorded alligator encounter at Lake Anna in 1978? The sighting was reported by a pair of visitors and a local fishing guide. Though undocumented and unverified, the fishing guide was cited in the New York Times as saying, “I know an alligator when I see one, and I wasn’t interested in fishing for one. We left.”
Whether or not it really happened, there haven’t been any reported sightings since. Most of us Lake Anna locals joke about it, or let our clogs float away yelling… “Croc! Croc!”
No… there aren’t any real alligators at Lake Anna. Although, they have been gradually moving northward and according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, have even been spotted near the Virginia border. Maybe that’s why one of the top internet searches for Lake Anna include people looking for information on alligators… “Are there alligators at Lake Anna?” as well as another favorite, “Do the fish glow at Lake Anna?” and other silly, but real, queries by intrigued Googlers.

Hi! I’m Jennifer Bailey and I partner with entrepreneurs who have massive ideas that could change the world. Most marketing is meaningless. Filled with empty promises, its only job is to bring in new traffic, new leads, and new customers. But I’ve drawn a line in the sand, and I’ve learned that marketing can do so much more than reach business goals and build profit. My methods give businesses the fire and soul they need to reach the right people, set the groundwork for sustainable relationships, and offer true value to the people on both the giving and receiving ends of marketing.
