The hospitality landscape of Lake Anna is about to change with the long anticipated construction of a 34-key hotel at the Lake Anna Boardwalk, located next to Tim’s on the North Anna arm of the lake, off of 522. Boardwalk Hotel is anticipated to be ready by this summer, this project signifies a significant investment by Reef Private Equity, marking its first sister project to Cutalong at Lake Anna. The project has received approval from Louisa County.

The new owner, who has permits in hand and financing in place, has selected a general contractor to proceed with the construction. Their plans for the property are expected to positively impact the community by providing much-needed lodging and job opportunities.

In a live, virtual summit in April, Joe Walsch from Reef announced that the now official “Boardwalk Hotel” project is to be open before Labor Day. The project is to include expanded parking as well. Learn more about the summit here.

While details about the parking lot remain undisclosed, project manager Archie McDonnel assures the public that they are approaching the matter with sensitivity. Acknowledging the increased demand for parking, the developers are committed to providing more spaces. Plans include expanding the asphalted area with clearly marked stripes, demonstrating a proactive approach to mitigate any potential impact on neighboring communities.

Emphasizing their commitment to community welfare, the developers express their cooperation with the county. Working in good faith, they are addressing concerns and seeking collaborative solutions. This cooperative stance reflects an understanding of the importance of harmonious relationships with the local community. The Lake Anna area is significant to the local community, providing both economic and recreational opportunities.

The new Boardwalk Inn is not merely a lodging facility; it is envisioned as a long-term asset that will contribute to the community’s social and recreational life. As a sister property to Cutalong, the project includes substantial investments into the boardwalk property. This strategic move aims to transform the area into an attractive event space, inviting residents and visitors alike to enjoy recreational activities and community gatherings.

“We are investing millions into the boardwalk property to make it a great event space for everyone to hang out and play,” explained McDonnel. “It’s much more than just a hotel, it’s really going to be a long term asset for residents and visitors.”

Addressing concerns about the VDOT road (Virginia Department of Transportation) on 522, McDonnel reassures the public that no interventions are planned, and there will be no interruptions to traffic at that location.

The boardwalk hotel project is set to follow a phased approach, beginning with a soft opening. This initial phase allows for fine-tuning operations and services before the grand opening for paying guests. By taking these measured steps, Reef Private Equity aims to ensure a seamless and memorable experience for visitors.

Boardwalk Hotel is located at the Lake Anna Boardwalk, an existing business complex that houses the popular Tim’s Restaurant, as well as Moo Thru Ice Cream, Mid Atlantic Water Sports, and Below Deck restaurant. The site is a popular on the water retreat for dinner and overlooking the lake.
