“Bluewater Cove” a Poem by Sharon Williammee-Wallingsford (1999)

A strong Spring breeze rustles tall oak trees for
a peaceful sound.
Noble wildflowers of meadow Violets and proud
Bluets abound.
Under cover of the forest leaves a small black
and orange lizard can be found.
All the while, the curious gray squirrel leaps and
prances around.
As one wizard crow provides a fancy show on
the ground.

The yellow Monarch butterflies casually drift near our cabin door.
A haunting Civil War cemetery provides lively folklore.
Overhead a discerning red-shouldered hawk will soar.
As brown turtles peacefully rest on the secluded
lake shore.
A blue heron grabs a perch and quickly searches for more.

Doe and fawn find solace in the mist of the deep
Southern pines.
Bumblebees pollinate lavender Azaleas in
harmonious time.
Soothing pink orchids of rare Lady’s Slippers are a
pleasing find.
Here in this wonderous mystic cove, nature has a
sweet rhyme.
A fine cherished place for this heart of mine.
